The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota recently conducted research to determine the feasibility of using massage therapy within a postoperative thoracic surgery setting. General thoracic surgery is provided for a spectrum of diseases and conditions and the pain is often long-term if not managed effectively. Researchers were encouraged to find those receiving massage had reduced pain scores following surgery.
